This past weekend I re-visited Picasso and Fontainebleau at MoMA and it continues to push me off my axis. I love exhibits that not only focus on a specific short amount of time like three months, or one summer. I also enjoy exhibits that focus on 1-4 paintings and then show viewers the process it took the artist to arrive at the masterworks. I look forward to writing about the exhibit more deeply and constantly wrestling with the work, the life, and history of Pablo Picasso. This year has been full of Picasso shows as institutions “celebrate” the 50th anniversary of his death. Here is to your Tuesday. May it be full of winter light.

Art + Healing: Loved this juxtaposition of Keith Haring and artwork from individuals incarcerated at Rikers Island. (Hyperallergic)
New Film: Enjoyed Todd Haynes new movie, “May December” (Netflix)
May December meaning “of or designating a marriage or romantic relationship between a young person and a person who is considerably older”Museum: I checked out the Tenement Museum for the first time on the Lower East Side. Really brings home the fact of how immigration has shaped New York City and our country. (The Daily Beast)
Ellsworth Kelly passed away eight years ago in December. I thought of him this week when I saw the shadows across the street on the fire escape. He was one of the first artists to help me start to see the power of abstraction. (SFMOMA)
